Satgas Damai Cartenz reportedly arrested Anan Nawipa on 11 May 2024 in Bapauda Village, East Paniai District, Paniai Regency. Nawipa was allegedly involved in the murder of Danramil Aradide, 11 April 2024, in Eladide District, Paniai Regency.
Nawipa was allegedly at the scene and was carrying the victim's mobile phone.
As of the end of June 2024, there is no further news on the legal process.
On 11 September 2024, the case was registered at Nabire District Court. On 14 January 2025, a panel of Nabire District Court judges found Anan Nawipa guilty of premeditated murder and stolen property and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, 10 years less than the prosecutor's demands. Both the prosecutor and the defendant appealed the verdict. On 10 March 2025, the Jayapura High Court ruled in favour of the Nabire District Court's verdict and the prosecution again appealed to the Supreme Court.
On 2 June 2025, Anan reportedly escaped from Nabire Prison with 19 other prisoners, 11 of whom including Anan were said to be affiliated with armed groups.
