The Denpasar and Bali Police arrested AMP member Yan Wetapo during a student demonstration organised by the Bali Tidak Diam Alliance on 30 August 2025. Wetapo was allegedly involved in riots that broke out after the demonstration ended in clashes with security forces. He was arrested along with dozens of other demonstrators and released the following day.

When arrested, Wetapo claimed that he was beaten in the face, stomped on in the stomach, and then kicked in the chest, ears, and chin.

The demonstration was part of a series of protests against the extravagant allowances received by members of parliament and the death of online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan.
