- Additional description
Nabire police personnel arrested Agus Uwipa on 3 December 2021 in West Nabire District, Nabire, Central Papua. Agus was accused of illegally purchasing ammunition from two Nabire police personnel.
In court, Agus was found guilty even though there was no evidence of the 80 rounds of ammunition that Agus was alleged to have purchased. He was sentenced to five years in prison, one year less than the prosecutor's demand. Meanwhile, the two police officers who sold the ammunition, Joni Prasetya Octavianus and Ardi Sineri, were sentenced to five and six years in prison, respectively.
With the conditional release policy granted to prisoners who have served two-thirds of their sentence, Agus should have been released in early April 2025, or even earlier if he had previously received several remissions.
