- Additional description
Marine personnel reportedly arrested a disabled person (speech impaired) on Jalan Gunung, Yahukimo, on 13 December 2025. Yuniut was taken to the police station in Dekai but was later transferred to the Lokpon Military Post.
This arrest occurred in the context of escalating armed conflict between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) in Yahukimo.
On 20 November 2025, joint forces forcibly entered a pastor's house and confiscated a number of items including a mobile phone and work equipment such as arrows, machetes and air rifles.
Then, on the same day as Yuniut's arrest, joint security personnel reportedly fired shots at Pastor Victor Kobak's house.
Yuniut was released at 4 a.m. on 17 December 2025. While in detention, Yuniut was allegedly tortured by being beaten. The army denied the torture allegations but admitted to arresting him. The army released a photo of Yuniut after his release, showing his face badly bruised.
