South Sorong Police arrested Abraham Fatemte on 24 March 2022, on Jalan Bandara, Sorong Regency. The police arrested and detained Abraham without showing a warrant. The police accused Abraham of being involved in the attack on a military post in Kisor that killed four TNI soldiers on 2 September 2021, even though at that time he was in Tual, Maluku Province.

His trial only began at the end of September 2022. On 14 February 2023, the panel of judges at the Sorong District Court found Abraham guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, five years less than the prosecutor's request. Both the defendant's lawyer and the prosecutor appealed to the high court, then to the Supreme Court. On 26 July 2023, the Supreme Court judges rejected the appeals from the prosecutor and the defence.
