Police arrested two men said to be fugitives due to their affiliation with an armed group in Yahukimo on 20 February 2026. The two men, Homi Heluka and Simak Kipka, were arrested at separate locations in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency. The Damai Cartenz Task Force stated that Homi was the commander of a battalion within the armed group. The task force also claimed that Homi was arrested for his involvement in a number of violent acts, such as the shooting of a police officer, the burning of a police car, and the shooting of a soldier. Meanwhile, Simak is accused of involvement in the burning of a village head’s car in February 2026.
On 23 February 2026, Homi Heluka was transferred to Jayapura along with two other prisoners, ENH and KPG.
