On 3 February 2024, joint forces (Satgas Damai Cartenz, Satgas Yonif 300/Braja Wijaya, and Satgas Elang IV) conducted a sweep in Omukia District, Puncak Regency, following the theft of a police weapon at Ilaga Market, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, 1 February 2024. The theft of the weapon was not announced by the authorities, and what was announced as a pretext for the sweep was information about the planned burning of the Omukia health centre.
During the sweep, Satgas Yonif 300 personnel arrested three young men who they suspected were part of an armed group. Andinus (Alinus) Murib and Devius Kogoya were arrested while repairing the roof of the house. Meanwhile, Werinus Murib was arrested while looking for firewood.
The three of them were then taken to a military post to be interrogated and severely tortured. Devius and Andinus were handed over to the police with severe injuries, so the police took them both to Ilaga Regional Hospital.
