The Cartenz Peace Task Force together with Dogiyai Police personnel arrested a presumed leader of an armed group, Jemmy Magai Yogi, in front of the Dogiyai DPRD office, Wednesday, 16 October 2024. Jemmy was allegedly smuggling 104 rounds of ammunition, consisting of 56 rounds of 5.56mm calibre and 48 rounds of 7.62mm calibre.
On 18 October, Jemmy was transferred to the Papua Police detention centre in Jayapura.
On 24 January 2025, his case was tried at the Nabire District Court. On 13 June 2025, the defendant was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison, two years less than the prosecutor's request. The defendant appealed the verdict.
On 20 August 2025, the appeal court judges decided to uphold the previous court's ruling.
