Nabire police officers allegedly arbitrarily arrested Agus Tagi at his house, 3 September 2024, evening. Tagi was arrested because he was allegedly involved in the persecution that caused the death of a security guard named Supriyono at the Security Post of CV Kurnia Jasa Mandiri, Jalan Poros Samabusa, Nabire Regency, 23 August 2024.
During the trip and at the police station, Agus was intimidated and mistreated to the point where he felt psychologically distressed. He was then released without being interrogated at 11pm.
Apart from Tagi, the police also arrested two other men, Ken Boga and Yeremias Magai.
According to the family through their lawyer, the three were arrested and tortured to confess. The three of them were in another district more than 60 kilometres away from the murder scene at the time of the incident. In his statement to the Magai family, the police chief claimed to have been pressurised by Supriyono's brother, who is a senior officer at the Cenderawasih Military Command.
