Jayapura City police arrested Jefry Wenda and Ruben Wakla, PRP and KNPB activists, who were on their way to visit a friend, the Chairman of Solidarity of Indigenous Papuan Traders, Frengky Warer, in the early hours of 29 July 2022. Police threatened to charge Wenda and Wakla with trespassing. But during questioning at the police station, investigators also asked about Wenda's Facebook status several months ago. The local police chief admitted that the arrest was made on suspicion of planning a demonstration against special autonomy.
