Dozens of police and military personnel reportedly arbitrarily arrested and searched the home of a farmer and KNPB activist, Effesus Hisage. The arrest took place in Timika on 14 March 2024.

The reason for the arrest was considered unclear. After being interrogated for 8 hours, Effesus was released.
