- Additional description
Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel arbitrarily arrested Yance Manggaprouw at his home in Sorong City on the afternoon of 27 August 2025 local time. It was reported that the arrest of the FNMPP activist was carried out violently.
The arrest was part of a series of arrests of Papuan activists and citizens who opposed the transfer of four political prisoners from Sorong to Makassar, South Sulawesi. The protests began on 25 August 2025 and ended in chaos because the demands of the activists and families of the political prisoners were ignored by the authorities and met with violence from the police.
Yance is one of five demonstrators who were released last in this case, along with Domingus Wafom, Musa Susim, Elisa Bisulu, and Dedi Goram.
