South Sorong police officers arrested Viktor Makamuke on 5 July 2023 without a warrant. The type A report related to Makamuke is known to have been dated 6 July 2023.
Makamuke was initially suspected of being arrested for his social media posts expressing support for the ULMWP to become a member of the MSG. The police reportedly threatened and forced Makamuke to pledge allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
On 2 August 2025 Victor Makamuke was reported to have been released due to a government amnesty.
Then he was suspected by the police as a member of WPNA and TNPB. He is suspected of actively mobilising people to join the armed group.
Then, in early November 2023, the police announced that Makamuke was also allegedly involved in raising the Morning Star flag in Innawatan in 2022. The indictment file and witness testimonies at the trial mostly discussed the latter case.
Prosecutors sought 3 years and 6 months' imprisonment for Makamuke.
