Joint security forces reportedly shot dead two suspected members of an armed group in Tembagapura, Mimika, 4 April 2024. To the media, the authorities said the two men were killed in a shootout. An alternative report we received said the two men were shot while on their way to pan for gold in the river. The photo we received also showed that the bullet wound was on the buttocks of one of the victims. Regardless, this report confirms that they were both members of the West Papua Army.
