Satgas Damai Cartenz arrested a man suspected of being a member of an armed group, Meno Heluka, in the Pasar Baru area, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, on 23 February 2026. Meno is accused of being involved in the shooting of a TNI personnel on 16 June 2025. As of the end of March 2026, there has been no further information regarding the legal proceedings in question.
On 9 June 2026, the case was registered at the Wamena District Court under the name Meno Kogoya. In the indictment, Meno was accused of violating the section on the possession of stabbing or piercing weapons, not of shooting a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The evidence presented in court included:
a ‘stabbing weapon’ made from cassowary bone; five bracelets (most of which were in colours associated with Rastafarianism, one featuring a Morning Star motif); seven necklaces (some made from seashells, some bearing the Morning Star symbol, some made from plastic, some from animal tusks, etc.); a piece of fabric with a Rastafarian motif in red, yellow and green; and a red and black checked jacket.
