- Additional description
A number of Yahukimo police personnel approached a KNPB member named Er Giban who was sitting in front of the KNPB secretariat and seized his mobile phone, Saturday, 31 May 2025. The police refused to return the mobile phone and asked Giban to collect it at the police station. The police also reportedly intimidated Giban by pulling his trousers until they were torn.
Together with a number of KNPB members, Giban went to the police station. There Giban was interrogated about the TPNPB photos and the knife on his mobile phone and accused of being a TPNPB member and involved in a murder case. Giban denied that he downloaded the photos from Facebook and that the knife was an ordinary kitchen knife. The police also asked for Giban's ID card but Giban did not have an ID card.
Giban was released the same afternoon without further legal proceedings. The local KNPB board considered the police's actions an attempt to intimidate and discredit Giban and the KNPB.
