Additional description

Police arrested Aris Wenda in Jayapura for his alleged involvement in the murder of female activist Michelle Kurisi Doga/Maikelin Mandosir Kurisi. Murib is said to be a member of the KNPB - and the local KNPB denies the allegations.

On 19 August 2024, a panel of judges at the Jayapura District Court found Aris guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, 5 years less than the prosecutor's demands.

On 26 August 2024, Aris filed an appeal against the judge's decision. On 30 September 2024, a panel of judges at the Jayapura High Court decided to increase the prison sentence to 20 years.
