Additional description

Jayapura City police arrested seven activists who were at the KontraS Papua office on 10 May 2022. The seven activists were Jefry Wenda, Ones Suhuniap, Omizon Balingga, Imam Kogoya, Marthen Rumbiak, Esther Haluk and Aby Douw. Kogoya, Douw, Rumbiak and Haluk were released the following morning. Wenda, Suhuniap and Balingga were released the following evening.

The police claimed that their main target was Wenda because he was considered to be the person in charge of the demonstration against special autonomy that day. Wenda was threatened with criminal offences under the EIT Law.
