Military personnel reportedly arbitrarily arrested, detained, tortured EW with two others indigenous Papuans, PW and LA, in Puncak Jaya Regency on the night of 13 March 2025. For more than two hours, they were arbitrarily detained, interrogated, and tortured at Kodim 1714 military base. Indonesia military personnel collectively delivered beatings during transport and detention at the base. They repeatedly accused the victims of the involvement in the murder of a comrade during the electoral conflict in that regency. The commanding officer apologised and offered a compensation of IDR 300,000 and after that they were released and returned to their house without receiving medical aid.
