Jayapura police arrested three participants in a demonstration against transmigration in Jayapura on 15 November 2024. The three men, Yanuarius Agapa, Alex You, and DD, were arrested when police forcibly dispersed the demonstration.

According to the records we received, at least 162 people were involved in the demonstration. They consisted of students and sympathisers. They gathered at two points, the first near Lapangan Trikora; the second at the Uncen campus in Abepura. Demonstrators at the campus were blocked from the start. The demonstrators at Lapangan Trikora moved to Abepura to join their friends there. But when they made it to Abepura Circle and gave speeches there, it wasn't long before the police fired water cannons, tear gas and warning shots.

As the participants were scattered by the forced dispersal, the three men mentioned above were arrested.

On 4 March 2025, the case was registered at the Jayapura District Court. On 24 April 2025, the public prosecutor demanded that the panel of judges hand down a sentence of 10 months' imprisonment.

On 20 May 2025, the panel of judges sentenced the defendant to seven months in prison.
