Additional description

Military personnel from Task Force 715/MTL reportedly arrested Kamenak Gire, who allegedly killed a TNI soldier in Ilu District, Puncak Jaya Regency. Kamenak was arrested on 15 December 2024.

The following day, Kamenak was handed over to Puncak Jaya Police. On 19 March 2025, the case was handed over by the police to the Nabire District Attorney.

On 2 June 2025, Kamenak reportedly escaped from Nabire Prison with 19 other prisoners, 11 of whom including Kamenak were said to be affiliated with armed groups.
