Timika Resort Police officers arbitrarily arrested Malvin Yobe and friends on 14 May 2025 at Katedral Tiga Raja Timika church for staging a spontaneous demonstration in front of the church after the ordination mass for the new bishop of Timika diocese, Mgr. Bernardus Bofitwos Baru, OSA.
Malvin and friends strongly reject the statement and alignment of the Archbishop of Merauke on the National Strategic Project that destroying indigenous land and the indigenous peoples in Wogekel and Wanam Village, Ilwayab District, Merauke, South Papua.
After questioning, Malvin was released the same day.
