According to media reports on 1 September 2023, a person with the initials FR who is suspected to be Ferdinandus Kramandondo was reported to have been one of the three people who had been arrested by the police. Thus, it is likely that he was arrested before that day. Police officers reportedly arrested Ferdinandus Kramandondo for his alleged involvement in the burning of the Kramongmongga school and district office as well as the murder of the district head.
In the court of first instance, the public prosecutor demanded that the defendant be convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. On 1 August 2024, the Fakfak District Court Panel of Judges sentenced the defendant to 7 years imprisonment.
The prosecutor appealed the decision. On 7 October 2024, the Manokwari High Court upheld the previous decision. The prosecutor rejected the decision and filed another appeal to the Supreme Court. On 23 January 2025, a panel of Supreme Court judges rejected the prosecutor's appeal.
