Military personnel from the Marine Corps reportedly arrested seven West Papuan teenagers in Sinak District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province. They are Meri Murib, YSM, Tendis Tabuni, Urundi Murib, NKM, ERM, and Ois Tabuni. They were arrested whilst travelling to Gigobak village to sit school exams the following day. They were taken to a military post by joint security forces and reportedly subjected to torture. On 25 March 2026 (some sources state 26 March 2026), NKM, ERM, and Ois Tabuni remained in detention whilst the other four were released. The three were finally released on 28 March 2026. Military personnel escorted them to SMPN 1 Sinak, where they were released after being asked to pledge allegiance and kiss the Indonesian flag.
