Joint security forces conducted a sweep after the Brimob post in Dekai, Yahukimo, was allegedly attacked by armed groups. From the sweep, the authorities arrested a man with the initials AS at Pasar Baru, Yahukimo.

AS's arrest led to a raid by security forces on the armed group's headquarters the following day that killed two members of the armed group and left a policeman wounded by gunfire.

AS began his trial on 14 November 2023. During the prosecution session, the prosecutor demanded that the defendant be sentenced to 4 years in prison.

With the conditional release policy granted to prisoners who have served two-thirds of their sentence, this prisoner should have been released in early August 2025, or even earlier if he had previously received several remissions.
