Police officers arrested Yanwaris Sewa at his home in Susumuk Village, Aifat District, Maybrat Regency. He was arrested for his involvement in the attack on Posramil Kisor (September 2021).
At the district court level, the prosecutor sought life imprisonment for the defendant. On 22 June 2023, the first instance judge sentenced him to 18 years in prison.
At the high court level on 21 August 2023, the judge rejected the prosecutor's appeal and sentenced the defendant in accordance with the decision of the district court.
The prosecutor filed an appeal to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court judge then on 16 November 2023 increased the defendant's sentence to 20 years in prison.
On 7 January 2024, Sewa became one of 53 prisoners who escaped from Sorong Prison. As of 3 May 2024, Sewa is still on the run.
