Additional description

The Abepura Sector Police in Jayapura arrested a former political prisoner, Malvin Yobe, in front of the church of Gembala Baik in Abepura on 1 December 2024. Malvin was arrested while displaying a banner reading ‘Self-determination for West Papua’ and ‘Independence is the right of all nations’.

Malvin was detained and interrogated at Abepura police station for five hours before being released in the afternoon.
