Mimika Police personnel reportedly arbitrarily arrested Nus Kogoya on 1 December 2025 in Mimika Baru, Mimika Regency. The arrest was carried out suddenly and the police did not give any reason for the arrest.

While Nus was being held at the Mimika Baru Police Station, representatives of the West Wamena community visited the police station and negotiated with the police, requesting that he be released. This was because the arrest was carried out without following the proper legal procedures. Nus was eventually released.
