Joint security personnel arrested Anus Asso in Dekai, Yahukimo, on 10 May 2025. The police alleged that Asso was involved in a number of criminal cases, including the murder of a police officer. However, in court, Asso was charged with the murder of a driver on 5 November 2024.
At the trial, the panel of judges acquitted Asso because he was proven to be a minor and rejected the charges brought by the prosecutor.
