Jayapura police dispersed and arrested dozens of activists who were about to take part in the Jalan Salib Merah demonstration in Jayapura, 10 December 2024. The activists were taken to Jayapura Police Station and released at midday.

The Jalan Salib Merah demonstration was initiated by a number of religious leaders in West Papua to commemorate World Human Rights Day. On that occasion they delivered prayers and lamentations for the resolution of the problems of human rights violations, environmental damage, internally displaced persons, and land grabbing related to national strategic projects.
