Additional description

Joint security forces arrested nine West Papuans at a house in Dekai District, Yahukimo. They are considered part of an armed group and were allegedly involved in the murder of two Yahukimo residents on 30 April.

During the prosecution stage, the prosecutor asked for the defendant to be sentenced to 12 years in prison. On 7 November 2023, a panel of judges at the Wamena District Court sentenced the defendant to 16 years in prison.

On 13 November 2023, the defendant filed an appeal but the Jayapura High Court on 15 January 2024 decided to uphold the decision of the Wamena District Court.
