Police personnel from Satgas Damai Cartenz arrested six people they considered to be members of the TPNPB on 20 August 2025. They were arrested at the Topo Police Station, Nabire/Paniai, Central Papua. One of them, Siprianus Weya, was allegedly involved in documenting an armed attack on two police officers at KM 128 in Siriwo District on 13 August 2025.
The five others who were also arrested were Jemi Mirip, Botanus Agimbau, Meinus Mirip, Yupinus Weya, and Melianus Mirip.
On 22 August 2025, TPNPB spokesperson Sebby Sambom denied the police's allegations that the six individuals were members of the TPNPB. According to him, they were internal displaced persons who were victims of the armed conflict between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)/Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the TPNPB.
As of the end of September, there has been no further information about their legal proceedings.
