Indonesian Marine Corps personnel arbitrarily detained Anton Payage, an Indigenous Papuan gold panner, at a post near the Nami River mining site, Dekai, Yahukimo, 10 March 2026. The arrest was made without presenting a warrant or clear legal justification, whilst Anton was on his way to the Nami River with a group of people. There had been no further news of him by the end of March 2026.
