Additional description

Timor Leste police reportedly arrested a young man with a disability, Nelson Barros Pereira Xavier, while Pope Francis was addressing Timorese citizens at Catedral da Imaculada Conceição, Dili, 10 September 2024. Xavier was arrested for holding Vatican and Timor Leste flags with the words ‘Free West Papua’ and ‘Free Palestine’.

After being arrested and interrogated, Xavier was released. However, the police threatened that his case would be transferred to the prosecutor's office.
