YW (17) was arrested along with LK on 28 September 2021. He was not in the wanted list that was issued by the police in relation to the 2nd of September attack in Maybrat however he was arrested because he was in the location of arrest when the police secured a few others who were in police 'wanted list' on 28th of September. His arrest was therefore arbitrary. He was then became suspected for the killing and was transferred along with Maikel Yaam, Agustinus Yaam, RY, MS and Amos Ky to Makasar on 29 December 2021. They are known as the "Sorong Six".
The transfer was done without informing their lawyers and families leaving YW along with RY and MS no means to having family accompaniment.
On 31 May 2022 YW, MS and Agustinus Yaam were sentenced to 18 years imprisonment.
The Sorong Six's cases were heard at Makasar District Court with legal assistance from LBH Kaki Abu and LBH Makassar. Prosecutors demanded 20 years
