Police personnel arrested Usmin Telenggen on 6 July 2013. He was allegedly involved in the attack and theft of weapons at Pirime Police Station, Lanny Jaya Regency, on 27 November 2012, which killed three police personnel.

His case was tried at the Wamena District Court under registry number 65 /Pid.B/2013./P WMN.

During the trial, the public prosecutor demanded that Usmin be sentenced to life imprisonment. On 4 March 2014, the panel of judges at the Wamena District Court found Usmin guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. The prosecutors appealed and on 17 June 2014, the Panel of Judges of the Jayapura High Court sentenced Usmin to life imprisonment.
