Police officers arrested ET and DT at Samabusa Port, Nabire, on 17 December 2022. They were both accused of carrying firearms and were taken to Nabire police headquarters. It was reported that throughout the journey, they were beaten and tortured by police officers. Human rights lawyers from LBH Talenta Keadilan complained about the torture to the provos but there was no follow-up.

They were both released after it was discovered that the weapons they were carrying were toys.
