Nabire police personnel forcibly dispersed and arrested three Nabire KNPB activists, namely AT, YW, and AL, who were distributing leaflets at Karang Tumaritis Market, Nabire, 12 August 2024, morning. They were taken and detained at the police station until they were released three days later.

The leaflets called for a demonstration to commemorate the New York Agreement to be held on 15 August 2024. The dispersal was carried out immediately without negotiation. The police fired tear gas at the activists, but the smoke also reached vendors and people around the market. Police also beat the activists with rattan.
