Alfons Winim was arrested on 3 June 2022 after participating in a peaceful rally in Merauke, Papua province. He was arrested along with 12 others who are composed of university students as well as political activists from KNPB. All who were arrested including Marthinus Pasim, Martinus Yumame, Kanisius Juliano Ambay, Petrus Kutey, Charles Sraun, Roberts Landa, Alfri Yawon, Yoseph Novaris Apay, Edoardus Kaboy, Basilius War, Yanuarius Kaize, Alfons Winim, and Oktovianus Erro. They were detained at a police station in Merauke.
