Fatia Maulidiyanti is an Indonesian human rights defender and Coordinator of the Commission for the Dissapeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS). On 18 March 2022 Fatia Maulidiyanti along with Haris Azhar, another human rights defender ere designated as suspects for defamation against Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan by the Metro Jaya Police. They were summoned to be questioned as suspects and the questioning took place on 21 March 2022 at Polda Metro Jaya Police. This came as the Indonesian Senior Cabinet member was identified of being involved in multiple business ventrues in West Papua in a report that were collaborated between several organizations such as KontraS, Walhi, Jatam, YLBHI, and Pusaka. In August 2021 Haris Azhar hosted his colleague Fatia Maulidiyanti in a YouTube talkshow discussing at length the findings of the report. Not long after both Fatia and Haris experienced series of judicial harassment including being summoned for allegation of violating the Information and Electronic Transaction Law (EIT Law) and defamation and slander starting in September 2021.
Haris and Fatia were never detained in relation to this case.
During the reading out of the prosecution's case, the public prosecutor asked the panel of judges to detain Fatia and Haris and sentence Haris to 4 years' imprisonment and Fatia to 3.5 years' imprisonment.
On 8 January 2024, the panel of judges acquitted Fatia and Haris of all charges.
