Abi Douw was arrested on 10 May 2022 during a protest for rejecting the creation of new provinces and extension of the special autonomy law in Jayapura. It was reported that the joint officers from Damai Cartenz operations and personnel of Polresta Jayapura arrested Abi Douw along with six others and were held in Polresta Jayapura station for questioning. The other six individuals are Omikson Balingga, Jefry Wenda, Iman Kogoya, Ones Suhuniap, Maxi Mangga and Neli Itlay.
