A number of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel arrested Abraham Heluka at a meatball stall in Nabire, Central Papua, on 10 March 2025. Abraham was arrested on allegations of possessing a weapon that did not belong to him.
On 2-3 March 2025, a weapon transaction took place in Nabire between Abraham and Leo Bayage, a TNI personnel. Abraham purchased a G2 Combat pistol for Rp50,000,000 from Leo, who had taken it from the cupboard of his fellow TNI member, Janji Setiawan.
Janji Setiawan later found out that Leo had taken his pistol and asked Leo to return it. A plan was then made to bring Abraham, who was outside Nabire at the time, back to the city. Abraham was offered to exchange the pistol for a long-barrelled rifle. Abraham accepted Leo's offer, returned to Nabire and met at a meatball stall, where he was later arrested.
On 28 August, Abraham was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison, as requested by the prosecutor.
It is unclear what happened to Leo Bayage, whether he was tried in a military court or not. What is certain is that the Rp50,000,000 was not listed as evidence in Abraham's case at the Nabire District Court.
