Nabire police personnel dispersed a convoy of students who were celebrating their graduation on 28 November 2025. Nine people were arrested in this incident, allegedly because the convoy was carrying attributes and waving Morning Star flags.

Two of the nine were released in the evening after being questioned. The other seven remain in custody.

It was reported that the police dispersed the crowd excessively, firing guns and tear gas indiscriminately. In addition, it was also reported that the police restricted family access to those arrested, on the grounds that they were undergoing questioning.
