Nabire police personnel forcibly dispersed a demo of KNPB activists commemorating the 1962 New York Agreement in a number of places in Nabire, 15 August 2024. Apart from being dispersed, the police also arrested at least 99 activists.

The police broke up five gathering points for the activists: Kali Bobo, Siriwini, Karang Market, SP, and Jepara II. During the dispersal, activists were kicked and beaten using iron bars, rattan, and rifle butts. Two activists were shot by the authorities and had to be rushed to hospital. The arrested activists were dried in the hot sun on the Nabire Police field.
