Nabire police officers arrested 14 high school students who celebrated their graduation on 6 May 2024. They were arrested for parading through the streets while colouring their school uniforms with images and colours of the Morning Star flag.

Police reportedly also arrested a student university. In total, 15 people were arrested.

Police reportedly forcefully checked students' mobile phones and forced them to remove their clothes and other accessories.

At the police station they were accompanied by LBH Talenta Keadilan Papua. The students were released the following night (7 May), while the student was only released on the morning of the 8th.

Five teachers were reportedly questioned over this incident.
