A student from Nduga, Ermin Dabiye, was found dead in Kenyam District, Nduga, on 16 December 2025. Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel are suspected of being involved in the death of the young man, whose body was found some distance from the victim’s last known location.

The body bore two gunshot wounds to the head and severe injuries to the face, consistent with severe torture, rendering the face unrecognisable. Consequently, it is strongly suspected that the victim was arrested and tortured before being executed.
