Rupi Wonda a.k.a Bale was one of the protesters involved in the demonstration against investment and militarism in Papua organised by the Papuan Indigenous Land Student Alliance on 15 October 2025. The Jayapura Police arrested Wonda and four others after the demonstration turned violent due to tear gas being fired, and released them the following day.
